Urgent Search for Vulnerable Martinsburg High School Student Khalil Swan #khalilwv

Martinsburg, WV — The community is rallying to find Khalil Swan, a Martinsburg High School student who has been missing since Fri., Oct. 13th, 2023, when he was last seen at school dismissal, headed towards bus #285 at approximately 2:35 p.m. Khalil's disappearance is especially concerning due to his medical and emotional needs.

Khalil's Description

Khalil is about 5'11", weighs 135 lbs, and has brown eyes. He has two small black beauty marks on the left side of his face near his left eye and on his left cheek.

Medical and Emotional Concerns

Khalil is on the autism spectrum and takes medication to prevent seizures, along with other significant medications. Without these medications, he is at risk of becoming moody, afraid, and could potentially harm himself. "He may start punching or clawing at his face, telling himself he's stupid, dumb, and not worth anything," says Jeff Swan, Khalil's father.

A Year of Trauma

Khalil has been through a significant amount of trauma recently. He was adopted earlier this year by the Swan family and is still grappling with the suicide of his biological mother just two days before the school year began. "He's dealing with a lot," Jeff Swan emphasizes. Khalil may also use his name prior to adoption, Rashawn Martin.

Anyone with information about Khalil's whereabouts is urged to contact the Martinsburg Police Department at (304) 264-2100 and reference Report # 2310-00101. Khalil could also revert to using his former name, Rashawn Martin.

Jeff Swan is asking everyone to use the hashtag #khalilwv in posts and shares about Khalil. "We will use it to provide updates," he says.

The family and community are desperate for Khalil's safe return. "Someone knows something," says Jeff Swan. "If you have any information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, please come forward. Khalil needs to be found as soon as possible."
